في كتاب ثواب الأعمال باسناده عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام من قرأ: ” قل يا أيها الكافرون، وقل هو الله أحد ” في فريضة من الفرائض غفر الله له ولوالديه وما ولد وإن كان شقيا محى من ديوان الأشقياء، وأثبت في ديوان السعداء; وأحياه الله سعيدا وأماته شهيدا وبعثه شهيدا
In Thawab al-A`mal: By its isnad from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: Whomever recites qul ya ayyuhal kafirun and qul huwallahu ahad in an obligatory prayer, Allah will forgive him, his parents, and his children. Even if he were wretched amidst wretched people, he will be established among happy people. Allah will make him live happy, make him die as a martyr, and resurrect him as a martyr.
في مجمع البيان في حديث أبي من قرأ ” قل يا أيها الكافرون ” كأنما قرأ ربع القرآن، وتباعدت عنه مردة الشياطين، وبرئ من الشرك ويعافى من الفزع الأكبر
In Majma` al-Bayan: In the hadith of Ubay: Whomever recites qul ya ayyuhal kafirun, it is as though he has recited one fourth of the Qur’an. The devils will depart from him. He will be absolved of polytheism and relieved from the Great Dismay.
وعن أنس بن مالك قال: سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وآله رجلا من أصحابه فقال: يا فلان هل تزوجت؟قال: لا وليس عندي ما أتزوج به، قال: أليس معك قل هو الله أحد؟قال: بلى، قال: ربع القرآن قال: ليس معك ” قل يا أيها الكافرون “؟قال: بلى قال: ربع القرآن، قال: ليس معك ” إذا زلزلت “؟قال: بلى قال: ربع القرآن ثم قال: تزوج تزوج تزوج
And from Anas b. Malik.
He said: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله asked a man from his companions: O you, have you married? He said: No, I do not have anything (dower) to get married with. He said: Do you not have qul huwallahu ahad? He said: Of course. He said: It is one fourth of the Qur’an. He said: Do you not have qul ya ayyuhal kafirun? He said: Of course. He said: It is one fourth of the Qur’an. Do you not have itha zulzilatu? He said: Of course. He said: It is one fourth of the Qur’an. Then he said: Marry, marry, marry.
وعن جبير بن مطعم قال: قال لي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: أتحب يا جبير إذا خرجت من سفر أن تكون من أمثل أصحابك هيئة وأكثرهم زادا؟قلت: نعم بأبي أنت وأمي يا رسول الله، قال: فاقرأ هذه السور الخمس: ” قل يا أيها الكافرون، وإذا جاء نصر الله والفتح
وقل هو الله أحد، وقل أعوذ برب الفلق وقل أعوذ برب الناس ” وافتتح قراءتك ببسم الله الرحمن الرحيم قال جبير: وكنت غير كثير المال، وكنت اخرج مع من شاء الله ان اخرج فأكون أكثرهم همة وأقلهم زادا حتى ارجع من سفري ذلك
And from Jubayr b. Mut`im.
He said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله said to me: O Jubayr! Would you love to go on a journey and be the best of your companions in form and in provisions? I said: Yes, may my mother and my father be sacrificed for you O Messenger of Allah. He said: Then recite these five chapters: (1) qul ya ayyuhal kafirun, (2) itha ja’a nasrullahi wal fat`h, (3) qul huwallahu ahad, (4) qul `a’uthu bi rabb al-falaq, and (5) qul `a’uthu bi rabb an-nas; and begin your recitation with “In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful”.
Jubayr said: I did not have much wealth. I would go out with whatever Allah willed. When I went out, I was the one with the most worries and the least provisions, until I returned from my journey.
وعن فروة بن نوفل الأشجعي عن أبيه انه اتى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله فقال جئت يا رسول الله لتعلمني شيئا أقوله عند منامي، قال: إذا أخذت مضجعك فاقرأ ” قل يا أيها الكافرون ” ثم نم على خاتمتها فإنها براءة من الشرك
And from Farwa b. Nawfal from his father that he met the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله and said: I came, O Messenger of Allah, so that you may teach me a thing to say when I have dreams. He said: When you go to bed, recite qul ya ayyuhal kafirun, then sleep afterwards, for surely it is a dissociation from polytheism.
الحذاء عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: كان أبى يقول: ” قل يا أيها الكافرون ” ربع القرآن وكان إذا فرغ منها قال: ا عبد الله وحده، ا عبد الله وحده
al-Hadha’ from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: My father used to say: Qul ya ayyuhal kafirun is one fourth of the Qur’an. When he would complete it, he would say: “I worship Allah alone, I worship Allah alone.”
وعن هشام بن سالم عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: إذا قلت: ” لا أعبد ما تعبدون ” فقل ولكني ا عبد الله مخلصا له ديني، وإذا فرغت منها فقل: ديني الاسلام ثلاث مرات
And from Hisham b. Salim from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: When you say: “I do not worship that which you worship” (109:2), then say: “Rather, I worship Allah, sincerely to Him in religion” (wa laakinnee a`budullah mukhlisan lahu deenee). When you complete it, then say: “My religion is Islam” (deeneel Islam) three times.
وروى داود بن الحصين عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: إذا قرأت ” قل يا أيها الكافرون ” فقل: يا أيها الكافرون وإذا قلت: ” لا أعبد ما تعبدون ” فقل ا عبد الله وحده وإذا قلت: ” لكم دينكم ولى دين ” فقل ربى الله وديني الاسلام
And Dawud b. al-Hussayn reported from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: When you recite: “Say: O disbelievers” (109:1), then say: “O disbelievers” (ya ayyuhal kafirun). When you say: “I do not worship that which you worship” (109:2), then say: “I worship Allah alone” (a`budullah waHdahu). When you say: “You have your religion and I have mine” (109:6), then say: “My Lord is Allah, and my religion is Islam” (rabbiyallah, wa deeneel Islam).
في عيون الأخبار في باب ما جاء عن الرضا عليه السلام من الاخبار المجموعة بهذا الاسناد قال: قال علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام: صلى بنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله صلاة السفر فقرأ في الأولى: ” قل يا أيها الكافرون ” وفى الأخرى ” قل هو الله أحد ” ثم قال: قرأت لكم ثلث القرآن وربعه
In `Uyun al-Akhbar: In the chapter on what came from ar-Rida from the reports of the group. By its isnad he said:
`Ali b. Abi Talib عليه السلام said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله led us in prayer while traveling. He recited qul ya ayyuhal kafirun in the first unit, and qul huwallahu ahad in the second unit. Then, he said: I recited one third of the Qur’an and one fourth of the Qur’an to you.
وفى باب ذكر أخلاق الرضا عليه السلام ووصف عبادته وكان إذا قرأ: قل يا أيها الكافرون قال في نفسه سرا: يا أيها الكافرون، فإذا فرغ منها قال: ربى الله ديني الاسلام ثلاثا
In the chapter mentioning the etiquette of ar-Rida عليه السلام and describing his worship: When he recited qul ya ayyuhal kafirun, he would whisper to himself: “O disbelievers” (ya ayyuhal kafirun). When he completed it, he would say: “My Lord is Allah, and my religion is Islam” (rabbiyallah, wa deeneel Islam).
في أصول الكافي أبو علي الأشعري عن محمد بن عبد الجبار عن صفوان ابن يحيى عن يعقوب بن شعيب عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: كان أبى عليه السلام يقول: ” قل هو الله أحد ” ثلث القرآن ” وقل يا أيها الكافرون ” ربع القرآن
In Usul al-Kafi: Abu `Ali al-Ash`ari from Muhammad b. `Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan b. Yahya from Ya`qub b. Shu`ayb from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: My father عليه السلام would say: Qul huwallahu ahad is one third of the Qur’an, and qul ya ayyuhal kafirun is one fourth of the Qur’an.
عدة من أصحابنا عن سهل بن زياد عن إسماعيل بن مهران عن صفوان بن يحيى عن عبد الله بن سنان عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام أنه قال: من قرأ إذا آوى إلى فراشه ” قل يا أيها الكافرون، وقل هو الله أحد ” كتب الله عز وجل له براءة من الشرك
Several of our companions from Sahl b. Ziyad form Isma`il b. Mehran from Safwan b. Yahya from `Abdllah b. Sinan from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: Whomever recites qul ya ayyuhal kafirun and qul huwallahu ahad when he goes to bed, Allah عز وجل will write for him a dissociation from polytheism.
في الكافي علي بن إبراهيم عن أبيه عن عبد الله بن المغيرة قال: حدثني معاذ بن مسلم عن ابن عبد الله عليه السلام أنه قال: لا تدع ان تقرأ قل هو الله أحد وقل يا أيها الكافرون في سبع مواطن: في الركعتين قبل الفجر، وركعتي الزوال، والركعتين بعد المغرب، وركعتين من أول صلاة الليل، وركعتي الاحرام والفجر إذا أصبحت بها وركعتي الطواف
In al-Kafi: `Ali b. Ibrahim from his father from `Abdilah b. Mughira. he said: Mu`adh b. Muslim narrated to me from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.
He said: Do not abandon the recitation of qul huwalahu ahad and qul ya ayyuhal kafirun in seven situations: (1) In the two units before Fajr, (2) the two units after zawal, (3) the two units after Maghrib, (4) the first two units of Salat al-Layl, (5) the two units of ihram, (6) Fajr, if you begin your morning with it [rather than its voluntary prayer], (7) and the two units of tawaf.
وفى رواية أخرى انه يبدأ في هذا كله بقل هو الله أحد وفى الركعة الثانية بقل يا أيها الكافرون الا في الركعتين قبل الفجر فإنه يبدأ بقل يا أيها الكافرون ثم يقرأ في الركعة الثانية بقل هو الله أحد
And in another report, one is to start with qul huwallahu ahad, and say qul ya ayyuhal kafirun in the second unit, except in the two units before Fajr, which start with qul ya ayyuhal kafirun, then qul huwallahu ahad in the second unit.
